THE WRITERS RETREAT WORKSHOP (WRW)
Boot Camp for Writers. With Love. Since 1987.
THE WRITERS RETREAT WORKSHOP (WRW) was founded in 1987 by Gary and Gail Provost to provide an intimate, intensive, personalized residential program for serious writers, with the goal of offering as much instruction, current nuts and bolts information, writing and editing time, and 1-1 feedback as conceivably possible, all within peaceful surroundings with a whole lot of heart.
PARTICIPANTS at the WRW are all dedicated writers who are serious about learning to improve their craft in order to publish their novels. They arrive at the WRW at varying levels of ability and leave, each of them, at a much higher level of writing skill. Without exception.
ABOUT GARY, THE WRW EXPERIENCE, FROM STUDENTS:
“When I read the hysterically enthusiastic praise for the WRW, I thought, ‘Yeah, sure.’ But I learned more in ten days than I have in ten years of writing. I learned also that everything said about the WRW is true.” — Ramona Lapidas, MA
“The WRW was a life-changing event for me. I liked everything about it. Gary and his expert guidance during the sessions and assignments; Gail’s attentiveness to all our needs; the respect for privacy and quiet in our work centers; the fellowship with all my new friends; the visiting speakers; the movies and graduation, etc., etc., etc. The part I did not like was leaving. I didn’t want it to end.” — Annette Picard, NC
“I’ve been thinking about the cost-benefit aspect of the WRW now that I’m home. I can’t remember any example in my life where I enjoyed a greater payoff in immediate improvement and long-term promise, in return for comparable time, money and effort. I expect to bet using the tools I brought away with me for as long as I write. And I expect to be writing for as long as I live.” — Frank Strunk, FL
